Historic centres are Zone a Traffico Limitato. Cameras at every entrance photograph your plate, and each camera you pass is a separate fine, often mailed to you months later through your rental company.

Three things to know
- Fines come from gates, not zones. You are fined for driving past a camera while the zone is active, once per camera.
- Hours change by weekday, season and public holiday. Check the time you'll actually arrive.
- Your car matters. Some older diesels are banned at any hour; electric cars may need registering first.
